One great thing about World War Z is that it delivers a bloody great coop experience with your mates. I am a massive co-op gaming fan, and this game continually brings a lot of fun into your gaming session. If you haven’t played the game at all or it’s been some time since you last had a crack at World War Z, I highly recommend you get into the game and give it a go. Cross-play also makes finding teammates a lot easier and while we always played two-player co-op with two AI units, it was never difficult to find groups to play with even today. The zombies, or zeds in World War Z speak, are individually weak and easily dispatched. A single swing from a machete or a couple of bullets will end one. A well-placed explosive will end a bunch. The fun comes when they swarm in the dozens, or hundreds. It’s by far the most visually and technically impressive part of the game. I stopped more than once to just watch in awe the hundreds of bodies rag-doll and hurtle themselves toward my squad, funneling through chokepoints, climbing up surfaces by using each other as a ladder. Which of these characters would be the least pleasant on a Valentine's Day date? As with most co-op games, World War Z is very keen on making sure you’re playing with a full squad of actual human players and not by yourself or even with a partial team – for good reason. As life would have it, one member of my four-person team had to drop out during one of our missions, leaving us with a bot for a partner, and things went downhill very quickly. These AI dummies have a bad habit of straying too far from the team, getting stuck, and being left behind in certain rooms. That said, the zombie AI feels right and responsive, especially during stealthy moments where a missed headshot from your pistol can alert nearby enemies. At least for them, it makes sense to act mindlessly and without a sense of self-preservation.
